Goals
Pre-COVID ('18-'19) vs. COVID Period ('20-'21) Programming Trends
Regardless of social restrictions, student groups utilized the virtual environment to plan and host events. Our student leaders across campus sustained event programming this year by conducting virtual fundraisers, hosting speaker events, and gathering their own resources (“other” category from bar chart) to adapt to the new programming rules for the 2020-2021 school year.
Despite changes in student activities, SOFC has remained committed to providing consistent funding to student groups across the years.
Spring 2021
Conference funding made up the majority of the SOFC annual budget for 2021-2022. As COVID rules relax, clubs anticipated being able to attend in-person events.
For the 2020-2021 school year, most of club activity was online due to COVID, leading to very small funds given to catering and travel. Speakers and other logistical costs received much more funding as these allowed clubs to interact while staying online. Clubs that did cater had UCAE approval. Marketing costs are low as SOFC does not fund online marketing.
The majority of requests were for conference costs and other logistical needs of student organizations. While the majority of requests are fulfilled near the requested amount, often times speakers and other items with large price range are found much cheaper than requested. In addition, the total catering requests were very low due to COVID and total marketing costs are low because SOFC does not fund online marketing.
